Class of 2018: Prom and Graduation Information

Dear Parents,
We just wanted to touch base about a few things as prom and graduation quickly approach. There’s a lot of important information so please read carefully and thoroughly!
- The last day to buy prom tickets is this Friday, June 6th. The current ticket price is $145 per person. Please don’t just drop off a check and permission slip, your son/daughter needs to sign up for a table and bus as well.
- Please have your son/daughter at John Jay HS at 5:45 pm on Friday, June 15th for prom. The buses leave promptly at 6:00 pm and it will take that time to get everyone loaded.
- If your son/daughter is planning on not returning on the buses please remind him/her that everyone not returning will need to wait inside the venue until all the buses have been loaded and attendance checked before they are allowed to leave and go to their alternative transportation. We expect this to take approximately 15-20 minutes. We seem to have issues with this each year so please reinforce this with your son or daughter.
- Also, if your son/ daughter is planning on not returning on the buses and has a bag he/she wants to bring down, that bag needs to be checked in between 3 and 4 pm on Friday, June 15th in the main office. The bags will then be available for pick up after prom in the coat check room. Please also make his/her transportation is aware that they will not be available for pickup until 11:15 pm-11:30 pm, after the buses have been checked in and departed.
- Graduation rehearsal is on Monday, June 18th in the JJHS auditorium at 1:30 pm. I understand there’s been some mixed messages about this so please note the correct time of 1:30 pm. We ask that you please have your son/daughter there by 1:15 pm. It is important for the graduates to be there to facilitate the smoothest graduation possible. Caps and Gowns will be available for pickup afterwards, granted all textbooks, library books, lunch balances and other fees are taken care of.
- Graduation will be on Tuesday, June 19th at 6 pm at Caramoor. Tickets can be picked up from Debbie Fried in the main office starting this Thursday, June 7th. Each family is allotted 4 tickets, extra tickets can be requested through Debbie Fried. If you are unable to make it in the tickets will be distributed with the cap and gown after rehearsal.
- We ask that the seniors are at Caramoor by 5:15 pm to facilitate organization. (It also helps you get better seats).
- Graduation picture proofs will be sent home via regular mail over the summer.
